Following sold-out concerts last spring, the velvet-voiced Daddy Was a Milkman<\/span><\/span> and guitarist Gints Smukais embark on a new acoustic tour titled \u201cQuite Something.\u201d Set against the bloom of spring, these musical encounters will take place in four very special Latvian cities and concert venues \u2014 C\u0113sis, Daugavpils, J\u016brmala, and Ventspils. Daddy Was a Milkman (real name Ignas Poci\u016bnas) and Latvian guitar virtuoso Gints Smukais continue their creative collaboration, which began after their first meeting in Riga. \u201cI was incredibly fortunate to meet an exceptionally talented Latvian guitar virtuoso \u2014 Gints Smukais. \u201cI was incredibly lucky to meet an exceptionally talented Latvian guitar magician \u2014 Gints Smukais \u2014 this winter,\u201d says Ignas. He first heard Gints\u2019 unique guitar style at the Palladium<\/em> concert hall and was instantly captivated. Since then, the interplay between the two artists has evolved into intimate, melodic concert moments where emotional songwriting blends seamlessly with outstanding guitar mastery.<\/p>\n
The idea of performing his songs in an acoustic format had been on his mind for a long time, but he lacked a guitarist capable of captivating an audience for several hours with just one instrument. \u201cGints can do it \u2014 and he does it brilliantly! We discussed the idea of playing together, and it didn\u2019t take long [\u2026]\u201d Ignas recalls about the beginning of their collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough conversation, we quickly realized that we share very similar views on the process of creating music and the magic of performing it \u2014 and, of course, we both really love guitars!
