On Friday, February 6, at 4:00 PM, the opening event of Ilze Onzule\u2019s photography exhibition \u201cEncountered\u201d will take place at the Polish House. It is a story about people who remain in our memories.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ilze Onzule was born in 1967 in C\u0113sis. She has been photographing since 2019, and since the autumn of 2021 she has been leading the association St\u0101stn\u012bca<\/em>. As Ilze herself says, the \u201cfather\u201d of her photography is her husband Linards Onzuls, while her \u201cgodfathers\u201d are photographers \u0122irts Dreimanis and Anatols Kau\u0161kalis.<\/p>\n

Portraiture is the way the exhibition\u2019s author observes and encounters human hearts. Each portrait is a moment in which a person is not a model, but a bearer of life and a story. \u201cEncountered\u201d<\/em> is a series of portraits in which the viewer enters into a quiet dialogue with strangers who become familiar, and with their own inner world.<\/p>\n

These are not staged photographs – they were born in everyday moments, reminding us that encounters are not accidental and that a human face speaks louder than words.<\/p>\n

\u201cEncountered\u201d<\/em> is Ilze Onzule\u2019s third exhibition. Her first exhibition, \u201cDaring Is Beautiful\u2026\u201d<\/em>, took place at the Ceri\u0146i Library, a branch of the Latgale Central Library, in the spring of 2022. The next exhibition, \u201c\u010ciekuru Street Stories in Photographs\u201d<\/em>, was held in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n

The photography exhibition at the Polish House (30 Var\u0161avas Street) will be on view from February 6 to March 2.<\/p>\n
