On February 21 at 12:00, Unity Square in Daugavpils will be filled with songs, laughter, and the joyful anticipation of spring, as for the second year in a row the folk traditions event \u201cWelcoming Spring\u201d will take place. The event invites everyone to enjoy a true celebration of togetherness while discovering the traditions of different cultures.<\/strong><\/p>\nDuring the event, ancient traditions of various cultures related to bidding farewell to winter and welcoming spring will be honored. There will be songs, dances, and traditional games, as well as the opportunity to enjoy freshly baked pancakes and take part in creative workshops together with the Children and Youth Centre \u201cJaun\u012bba.\u201d Sports activities will be organized by the Daugavpils City Education, Youth and Sports Department, and visitors will also be able to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides with the noble horses of the farm \u201cKlajumi.\u201d<\/p>\n
The special guests of the concert will be the family folklore group \u201cBerendejka\u201d from Riga, representing the Culture and Folk Art Centre \u201cRitums.\u201d Through seasonal ritual songs and games, they will encourage audiences to explore ancient folk traditions. Guests from L\u012bv\u0101ni and J\u0113kabpils will also participate \u2014 the Slavic culture vocal ensemble \u201cRazdo\u013cje\u201d and the dance group \u201cKaleidoskops\u201d from the Me\u017e\u0101re parish association ELPAS.<\/p>\n
The audience will also be delighted by the creative groups of the National Cultures Centre of Daugavpils Palace of Culture: the youth dance group \u201cUzori,\u201d folklore ensembles \u201cRusi\u010di\u201d and \u201cSlavjanka,\u201d the children\u2019s vocal ensemble \u201cKaragodi,\u201d the mixed choir \u201cMa\u013cinovij zvon,\u201d the vocal ensemble \u201cVdohnovenije,\u201d the dance ensemble \u201c\u013banok,\u201d and the children\u2019s studio \u201cSk\u0101rbn\u012bca.\u201d<\/p>\n
The folk traditions event \u201cWelcoming Spring\u201d will be a colorful, warm, and vibrant occasion where, through song, dance, games, and shared celebration, everyone will be able to feel the approach of spring and the strength of folk traditions.<\/p>\n
The event is organized by the National Cultures Centre of Daugavpils Palace of Culture and supported by the Daugavpils City Municipality.<\/p>\n
