The authors of the stained glass window are watercolorist and stained glass painter Egons Cēsnieks and architect Andris Purviņš. The stained glass window “Fire and Night” was created based on the work of Jānis Rainis, which was based on the vision of Andrejs Pumpurs’ epic “Lāčplēsis”.
This large-format composition is simultaneously both a prologue and an epilogue to the story of Lāčplēsis, Laimdota, Koknesis, the Black Knight, Kangaris and his troops, and the central figure of Spīdola, depicted as a symbol of freedom and upward striving.
