To mark International Mother Language Day, the VII International Conference “Belarusian Readings” will take place on February 20 at 2:00 PM at the Forštate Cultural Space of the National Cultures Centre (41a Vidzemes Street, 2nd floor). The programme will also include a public dictation in the Belarusian language.

This year, the annual public dictation is dedicated to the Belarusian writer, poet, and translator Vladimir Korotkevich (1930–1984). Latvia held a special place in the author’s life — he referred to it as the “land of amber,” visited the country on several occasions, and dedicated a number of his literary works to it.

The event is organized by the National Cultures Centre of the Daugavpils City Municipality institution “Daugavpils Culture Palace.”

Admission is free of charge.

Please note that photography and video recording will take place during the event for publicity and archival purposes.
