On July 1, the travelling exhibition “Where the Earth Resounds” opened at the Daugavpils Palace of Culture. The exhibition is a collaborative project between the BUTS Training Centre and artist Liene Gusta.

The exhibition features 12 large-format horse portraits, along with a special artwork in which the horse motifs are accompanied by an owl – a symbol of wisdom. The works were created as part of the BUTS Training Centre’s 2026 calendar collection, whose central theme is the horse as a symbol of strength, endurance, courage, and harmony.

Artist Liene Gusta holds a Master’s degree from the Art Academy of Latvia. Nature and animals play a significant role in her artistic practice, while her paintings are distinguished by their realism, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to reveal the unique character of each animal.

“The more I paint nature and animals, the greater satisfaction I feel when, after the final brushstrokes, the animals and plants in the painting seem to come alive – the eyelashes, whiskers, delicate hairs shimmering in the sunlight, or the intricate veins of a leaf,” says artist Liene Gusta.

The exhibition invites visitors to pause from the rush of everyday life and immerse themselves in the world of horses – their strength, elegance, and movement. It will be on display until 22 July in the first-floor foyer of the Daugavpils Palace of Culture.
