Daugavpils Palace of Culture together with Tempart society decorated the wall near Daugavpils kino hall with a large-format wall drawing – a mural with characters from the popular Latvian animation film “Flow”.
This art object not only enlivens the environment, but also symbolizes the recognition of Latvian animation at the international level.
The movie “Flow”, which has collected high audience ratings and prestigious awards, has become a real cultural phenomenon. Daugavpils, where the film has been actively shown since its premiere, has now also become a place of its visual presence – on walls, not only on screens.

Astrida Leščinska, head of the Palace of Culture, notes: “This mural strengthens faith in Latvian creativity, brings the city closer to contemporary art and attracts both Daugavpils residents and visitors”. According to her, the Palace of Culture strives to become a key center of attraction for families, offering more and more diverse cultural initiatives.

The visual image of “Flow” organically blended into the renovated children’s corner of the institution, making it an even warmer and more inspiring space for children and parents.

The movie set a record in January 2025, becoming the most watched Latvian movie of all time. At Daugavpils kino, it took first place among animated films, attracting more than 5,000 viewers.

Alexander Komarov, the cinema’s project manager, notes: “We are proud that ‘Flow’ has become the most viewed animated movie at Daugavpils kino, and we are happy that local residents and visitors appreciate not only quality movies, but also the infrastructure provided for different audiences, including families with children.”
