Heart of a Dog
«Heart of a Dog»
Performance – questions without answers:
One of the rare works of the Soviet era that has become a classic and has transcended the boundaries of its time, gaining eternity.
Who and how?
«Heart of a Dog» – this is a story that every generation reads anew.
Nowadays, Bulgakov’s story acquires a special meaning: once again, the generation of Russian intelligentsia, «Professors Preobrazhensky», has lost its country, giving the right to manage it to the young Sharikovs and Shvonders. This means that the time has come for theatrical reflections on Bulgakov’s text. An attempt to explore the reasons why the history of the early 20th century is repeating itself in a new circle is made using new media capabilities, modern theater technologies and video designs – this is the language of this performance with questions without answers.
WHO AND WHOM?
The production is made up of an international team, including a British director and a French stage artist, as well as well-known Russian actors living in different countries of the world. It is intended for a Russian-speaking audience scattered all over the world. The story of Moscow in the 1920s
goes outside of Russia, where it was created, to travel to the places where Bulgakov’s contemporary audience lives.
