On Friday, 26 June, at 6:00 p.m., the Belarusian folk festival “Kupalle” will take place in the courtyard of the Forstadt Cultural Space. Together with the Belarusian community, creative groups from Daugavpils and national cultural associations of Latgale will celebrate the traditions of the summer solstice.

The concert programme of the “Kupalle” festival will feature Belarusian creative groups of the National Cultural Centre: the folk song ensemble “Kupalinka”, the dance ensemble “Lyanok”, the vocal ensemble “Praleski”, the amateur theatre studio “Paulinka”, and the children’s studio “Skarbnitsa.”

The festival wreath will also be enriched by amateur artistic groups representing Jewish, Russian, Lithuanian, Polish, Roma, Tatar, Ukrainian, and German cultural traditions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in various workshops and interactive activities, including weaving traditional solstice wreaths, creating bouquets from meadow flowers, learning the Polotsk textile printing technique and making a special fabric napkin, leaving their wishes at the “Wish Tree,” tasting traditional herbal solstice tea, playing folk games, and capturing the festive atmosphere by taking photos with the festival decorations.

In case of adverse weather conditions, the event will take place indoors in the hall of the Forstadt Cultural Space. Admission is free of charge.

The event is organised by the National Cultural Centre of the Daugavpils Municipal Institution “Daugavpils Palace of Culture.”

Please note that photography and video recording will take place during the event for publicity and historical documentation purposes.
