On Saturday, May 30, the breaking season wrap-up tournament “Welcome Summer” took place at the Forstadt Cultural Space in Daugavpils, bringing together students from the “Factory Kingz” breaking school.
A total of 57 participants competed across six age categories. The competition was held in a 1-vs-1 battle format, giving children and young people the opportunity to showcase the skills, individual style, and confidence they had developed throughout the season.
The event was part of a day dedicated to hip-hop culture. During the first half of the day, Bauhaus-style graffiti activities and outdoor activities for children took place near Daugavpils’ water treatment facilities. In the evening, the breaking tournament was held at the Forstadt Cultural Space. The musical atmosphere was provided by DJ Crashfader Dee, while the tournament was hosted by MC An-Juicy.
Participants were judged by representatives of the school’s senior group: Edgars “Edgar” Sūrītis, Marats “Moras” Gatyatulin, and Deniss “Ninja Turtle” Volosanovs. This approach allows more experienced students to take an active role in shaping the school’s competition culture and passing on their knowledge and experience to younger dancers.
